Washington, DC
CARING FOR OUR WATERSHEDS: DC is open to Grade 6-8 classrooms who attend school in the city of Washington, DC.
Classrooms are asked to submit proposals that answer the question:
“What can you do to improve your watershed?"
- Classrooms will compete for $6,000
- Participating schools are eligible for $10,000
- Implementation funding is available for $10,000. All classes are encouraged to implement their ideas.
2012 Winners Announced

The finalists were announced at the World Environment Day Expo at Wilson High School, June 4, 2012
Thank you to all of the students who participated in this contest. Twenty-six classroom entries were received.
The $1,000 first place prize was awarded to students from Roots Public Charter School for their proposal, "Motor Oil Recycling for the Community,” which is raising awareness of how and where to properly recycle used motor oil.
