Help your students change the world.

The CARING FOR OUR WATERSHEDS program encourages students to imagine, develop and create solutions in their local watersheds. The program cultivates ideas - as past competitions have shown. Young minds often hold the key to amazing innovations that protect and improve our watersheds. Participating schools earn their own rewards by participating in the program. This program comes Monday morning ready and fits into the curriculum you already teach.

Interested in having this program in your community, please contact us.

Teachers interested in signing up and learning more about the program should click on their local watershed location.

If schools are interested in participating they MUST REGISTER THEIR SCHOOL. Teachers can do this at the Teacher Training or on the website - click here.

Schools

In each watershed contest, participating schools are eligible for $11,500 in rewards.

Here's how - schools that have students enter the contest will be given $100 per 10 entries (based on the first 500 entries) plus all finalists will win matching cash awards for their school.

For example: St. Mary's School had 57 students enter the contest. 2 students made the finals and received 1st place and 5th place in the Grades 7-9 Category.

  • 57 entries = $500
  • 1st place = $1,000
  • 5th place = $150

St. Mary's School won $1,650 cash! (Plus, the students who made the finals each won cash prizes!)

Project Implementation

Students are encouraged to implement their ideas. Funding is available to help with the cost of the project. See Project Implementation for details.
