CARING FOR OUR WATERSHEDS: Virginia is open to grade 6-8 classrooms who attend school in the City of Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax city/county.

Classrooms are asked to submit proposals that answer the question:

“What can you do to improve your watershed?"

  • Classrooms will compete for $6,000
  • Participating schools are eligible for $10,000
  • Implementation funding is available for $10,000. All classes are encouraged to implement their ideas

2012 Winners Announced

The final presentations were at the George Mason University on June 12, 2012

Thank you to all of the students who participated in this contest. Twenty-five classroom entries were received.

The $1,000 first place prize was awarded to H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program for their proposal, "Batty about the Big Brown Bat.”
